About – Virtual Photography
Story
When I wrote this, it was spring 2022 I have just turned 39 years old. I have some experiences with gaming. Which starts already in my early days when I was still a young boy. When there weren’t yet computers and game consoles like nowadays. Gaming has also a huge history, it started already when there were not even computers. But for the computer was the first game ever made a “video game” named: Magnavox Odyssey from the year 1972. The first game console has the same name “Magnavox Odyssey” also from 1972. Before that there weren’t computer games think about Roller-Skating, Yoyoing and Hide & Seek, this kind of game play we did in our younger times but there are many more. You see the transition from before the 80s until now. It has changed a lot! From playing outside to playing in a dark room for many nights. For me it has started with the “Game Boy” and Tetris and Bomberman ’94 from 1994. After this there came the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, PlayStation and so on.
Nowadays the game consoles have changed so much, like you are living in a virtual world, and when you are in its hard to get out. So realistic and full of huge quality not only the game it self but also the quality of televisions that gives the feeling that it almost seems like a real world. In 1080 Full HD, 4K and 8K.. Take for example Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry Series, The Last of Us II, Ghost of Tsushima and the Assassins Creed Series, so incredible quality and experience of gameplay is really realistic.

Virtual photography, also known as game photography, screenshot photography, or putsovagery, is a form of new media art which consists of taking screenshots of video game worlds. Virtual photography has been featured in physical art galleries around the world. The validity and legality of this art form is sometimes questioned, because virtual photographers are taking photos of artwork created by the game’s designers and artists. For the most part, virtual photographers share the same motivations as “real life” photographers, including a desire to capture visually interesting images, preserve memories, and demonstrating technical expertise. About
I am a photographer for work and a web designer in daily life. Gaming is for me a hobby and a great way to escape in a virtual world. But not only this, I am so much attracted to playing games that there are moments that I want/need to capture the moment. The technology has made it possible that we can make photos when we are gaming. We call that “Virtual Photography” and this is why you are here!
But as a photographer is this way of photography of course a weird thing, because it’s a completely different way of photography than using a DRSL camera. Personally, I adore this way of photography the same as landscape or nature photography in the real world. Playing a game you feel like being in a virtual world that tells us also many stories, to capture a beautiful moment like that is a beautiful satisfaction. That’s why I have created this website! So that everyone in the world can share his/her “Virtual Photographs”. Sharing such beauty is a satisfaction!
